IT was back to league duty for the Banbridge Intermediate B side on Saturday when Richhill were the visitors to Cheney Park.
In the opening spells it was quite clear that Thursdays game was having its toll on almost all of the home players as play
was sluggish and quite lethargic in all areas of the park.
Wilson, Baird and Clydesdale had the best of any half chances but none of these were good enough to give any trouble to the Richhill keeper.
On the half hour mark Scotty Ward picked the ball up in midfield and after skipping past his marker drove at the visiting defence only to be hauled down from behind. The resulting free kick allowed big Chrisy Chambers to step up and drill a well contolled free kick into the right hand side of the net.
Before the half closed Richill started to respond and it took late blocks from both Porter and McMinn to ensure their side lead at the interval.
A drilling down in the changing room obviously helped as a rejuvenated Rangers side took greater control in the second half with Cousins and Ward now dominating the centre of the park.
A second goal soon came as reward for constant pressure when Robbie Baird was first to pick up a clearance from the Richhill centre half just outside the area.
It looked as though the winger would chip the ball back into the danger area but instead he fired in a shot which somehow stunned the keeper and on the wet surface spun through his hands into the net.
With confidence now high Rangers sensed more goals but unlike in mid week were unable to convert several chances with Clydesdale hitting the post and Ireland also seeing an effort missing the bar by inches.
With five minutes remaining Richhill grabbed a slight lifeline when they pulled one back from second phase play at a free kick but all was in vain as Rangers seen the game out to grab the three points and keep up their good start in Intermediate football.
Best on Saturday were Chambers and Porter.
