BANBRIDGE Town's undefeated home run came to an abrupt end on Saturday as classy Portadown pulled out all the stops to get their title challenge back on track.

In the end Ronnie McFall's side coasted their way to victory meaning Colin Malone is st
ill looking for a first win over his arch nemesis.

The match was almost a mirror image of the game between the two sides earlier this season. That time the Town took the lead through Aidan McVeigh before crumbling.

And once again the Town stunned the Ports thanks to McVeigh. A deserved lead came when McVeigh rose unchallenged at the back post to put the home side ahead from Paul Keenan's cross.

But the Ports were soon back on level terms when Gary McCutcheon tucked away a penalty after Sproule was brought down in the Town penalty box – a call the locals disputed.

The game became meaty and Portadown lost Kevin Braniff and Ryan McCluskey to injuries before McCutcheon hit his second courtesy of a long throw from Andy Hunter which totally evaded the Banbridge defence, landing at the Scotsman's feet before he put it home with ease.

However this was only the start of the Ports' domination. They took control in the second half with goals from Wesley Boyle and Richard Leckey.

Both players actually will feel aggrieved not to have come away with hat-tricks as the Ports bombarded Wilton's goal.

Lecky, who had earlier missed a chance when clean through on goal, clipped a sublime chip over Wilton from the right side of the box.

Then Boyle hammered in identical goals from 15 yards as the Town defence failed to clear their lines.

Leckey popped up in the box to turn a fine effort past Wilton keeper to wrap up the scoring.
