Lisanally Rangers Reserves 1
LAST Saturday saw Banbridge Rangers Reserves take on Lisanally Rangers Reserves at the Tech in Banbridge.
It was a game that on paper should have been no problem for the Banbridge team but it was to be the complete
opposite. With 15 minutes gone in the first half Lisanally grabbed a shock lead when the striker made room in the box for himself to head over McMinn in the Bann goal to make it 1-0.
This was the wake up call the home team needed as they started playing some good football with Dillon, Ireland, Graham and King combining well and all having good efforts on the Lisanally goal.
But they couldn't get through their defence and this saw the half draw to a close at 1-0 to the visitors.
With some harsh works at half time from manager Dan Thornton his Rangers team took to the pitch in a more confident mood. This showed as they started playing the football that has got them into a good position already this season.
With half an hour to go G Wilson played P Dean through and the midfielder was upended in the box to give the home team the break they needed. C Grey stepped up and slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
With spirits lifted the Banbridge men went for all three points as Ireland, Bickerstaff and Dean all going close.
But with 10 minutes to go P Dean sent the impressive R Bickerstaff through one on one with the keeper and the winger made no mistake when he slotted the ball under the advancing Lisanally keeper to make it 2-1.
This was a well fought game and the club would like to wish Lisanally all the best for the rest of the season. Best on the day for Rangers was R Bickerstaff. Thanks to match sponsor Bryan Dobbin.
