Shamrocks 2-9
Tullylish 0-10
TULLYLISH travelled to Newry on Thursday night and were beaten by a better balanced and physically stronger Shamrocks team.

Although Shamrocks pointed in their first attack, Tullylish had the better of the early exchanges. With Ronan Barry and Ja
mes McDermott prominent in the half-back line and Barry Priestley solid in the corner the visitors dominated the first quarter and points from Davy Corbett, Fiontann O'Dowd, John McAreavey and Ronan Barry saw them lead by four points to one after 12 minutes.

Poor shooting from the Shamrocks forwards allowed Tullylish to maintain their three point lead before the home team pulled one back after 17 minutes. However, this was quickly cancelled out by an Eamon Morgan point three minutes later.

Shamrocks reduced the deficit to two points five minutes from half time, and then turned the game on its head in injury time with a superb goal from Noel Heaney to leave the score 1-3 to 0-5 at the break.

Two John McAreavey points either side of a Shamrocks free tied the scores five minutes into the second half. Peter Quinn and Heaney traded scores before three unanswered points allowed Shamrocks to ease ahead with 10 minutes left.

Tullylish tried hard to get back into the match but a second Shamrocks goal on 23 minutes left them with too much to do in the closing stages.
