FORTUNES can change very quickly in football, as Scarva Rangers discovered to their cost on Saturday.

Their performance in their opening league game last Tuesday night fizzed and sparkled but at Rathfriland just four days later the display was lifeless and flat.

Rathfriland Swifts were hungrier for possession and too often Scarva were second to the ball in a first half that ended with the hosts ahead by a single goal.

DANGEROUS

Danny Cullen came closest to dragging the village side back on level terms but his dangerous shot was pushed onto the bar by the Swifts goalkeeper.

A three goal blitz in a devastating ten minute spell ended any hopes Rangers had of salvaging something from their afternoon. But defeat was a just return for a lacklustre showing.

One bright note for the club was the return to action of Jeffrey Patton, who made a substitute appearance, his first game following a knee operation a year ago.
