A HOST of Manchester United legends are on their way to face Newry City on Sunday July 20.
The United Legends kicked of their summer 08’ European Tour in The Republic of Ireland on Saturday May 24, then travelling to Scotland where they are currently playing before flying to, Sweden before their much anticipated tour of Northern Ireland.
With just a week to go until the kick-off of the Oceanico Legends XI tour, the countdown begins now that all competing players have been named.
The squad has been growing stronger every season with the new additions this season of Lee Sharpe and Clayton Blackmore adding to the experience of Sammy McIlroy and Arthur Albiston - the Manchester United Legends are a real force to be reckoned with this season.
Lee Sharpe commented, “As a player for Manchester United I got to play with some great players but I always wanted to play with the legends such as Arthur Albiston, Ray Wilkins, Frank Stapleton and Sammy McIlroy and now I can on the Legends XI Northern Ireland Tour.”

Team Captain Arthur Albiston said, “It’s a great honour to be the captain of this Legends XI squad. I know I speak for all the lads when I say the Irish support for Manchester United over the years has been overwhelming.
“It’s great for the Manchester United Legends XI to come and play in Northern Ireland. We all still love to play and for will be wanting to win, I think the fans will be very surprised to see how competitive the games are.
The Oceanico Legends Tour brings great excitement and fun for all the family, the players make themselves very approachable to the fans which nowadays is something nearly impossible for current top flight players.
Certain sections of the ground are now sold out but tickets are still available to watch the game. Tickets can be purchased from www.ticketmaster.ie and all usual outlets.
