Ballyclare golf finals affected by wet weather

USUALLy by time of the year the various match-play trophies at Ballyclare Golf club would have been decided but the very wet conditions in the past month have curtailed semi-finals and then finals.

The up to date situation is -

Love Trophy final - David Craig v Ian McConnaughie.

Adult Juvenile final - Adam McIntyre/ A. Dyer v M. and C. Beggs or B. Craig and B. Craig Junior.

Fourball semi-finals - Mark Dunning/S. Heaney v Billy Millar/Robin Mairs; Davy McWhirter/ John McCreary v Nigel McGookin/D. Hamill.

McClure cup final - Alan Lilley v Sam Robinson.

Curry Clock final - S. Purdy/A. Wilson v Bill Houston/ Stephen Rea or B. Dowey/S. Harvey.

SPECIAL CELEBRATION

Despite poor weather last Wednesday the Ballyclare Retired Gents had their usual outing.

Afterwards in the clubhouse they toasted their oldest member Harry Murphy who had celebrated his 90th birthday on Tuesday of last week. Harvey as usual played in the Wednesday competition and was presented with a birthday cake by Leslie White (past captain) who stood in for the present captain of Retired Gents Tom Green who was on holiday. Harry Murphy has been a member of Ballyclare for many decades.

GIRLS SUCCESS

Joan McNeill of Ballyclare Ladies Section was the manager of the Antrim County girls under 18 team which finished a srunners-up in the Ulster District Championships held on 30th August at Donaghadee Golf Club.

Two members of the Antrim team were from Ballyclare - Megan Thompson and Hannah Henderson.
