Bryans selected for NCU under 13s

TWELVE year old Ross Bryans is Templepatrick Cricket Club's most recent player too achieve representative honours.

A regular with the club's Under 13 XI, Ross has been selected for the NCU Under 13s, and will be off to Dublin this week to take part in the interprovincial series of matches.

Paddy Lutton was Templepatrick's first player to be honoured at this level away back in 1997, and three years ago Niall Dalton achieved a similar honour, so all at The Cloughan congratulate Ross, coupled with the hopes that he performs well at national level.

The club's comprehensive coaching scheme has resulted in members being selected for NCU teams at Under 11,Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 level, with several of them now playing regularly for the senior side in the Ulster Bank Senior League Section 2.

Three other young members have booked their places in the Belfast Lord's Taverners team that will be off to Arundel in August.

David Gibson, Jay Hunter and Daniel McFadden were in the Belfast side that knocked out their Birmingham and Liverpool counterparts, and these victories ensured a place in the national finals.

Commenting, Director of Coaching, Andy McCrea, said: "Being based in Ballyclare we have a large catchment area, and starting with the Kwik Cricket scheme in local primary schools, we have picked up quite a number of promising players.

"I am impressed by their commitment and dedication, and our 2nd and 3rd XIs are packed with young enthusiasts, who are capable of stepping up to the senior side when required, so the future looks promising for Templepatrick Cricket Club."
