Cameron scores at Windsor

BALLYCLARE schoolboy Cameron Brown was the latest recruit to the Green and White Army at Windsor Park recently.

Cameron was honoured to be chosen as a player escort for the Northern Ireland team’s game against Azerbaijan.

He got to experience first-hand the excitement of the build up to the game, including being pitch-side as the Northern Ireland team warmed up, before walking out hand-in-hand with Northern Ireland midfielder Chris Baird.

Cameron’s dad Malcolm said: “As a supporter of Northern Ireland, Cameron enjoyed the whole experience, from the moment we arrived he was full of great excitement about walking out in front of the large crowd and the Windsor roar.

“All the kids were made to feel special and totally enjoyed the evening. Cameron also enjoyed his five minutes of fame the next morning in school, as a few of the children saw him on television when walking out with the team. This filled him with great pride, having helped lead his team out onto the pitch that some day he hopes to grace as part of the famous Green and White Army.”

The opportunity to walk out as a player escort was provided through McDonald’s new grassroots football website, KickStart, where users can access once-in-a lifetime opportunities similar to Cameron’s experience.

The website also allows local clubs to secure funding for development projects and gain useful information on coaching or running a club.
