Carrickfergus Cricket Club First XI picked up four more NCU Section 1 points on Wednesday evening (July 24) after securing a narrow win over Templepatrick at Middle Road.

Carrickfergus batted first in the two-night match, with Mikey Taiaroa (72), Michael Gilmour (32), Iain Parkhill (32) and Alex Haggan (25) helping them to a total of 204 all out in 49.2 overs.

The home side got off to a great start against the Templepatrick openers, but were pegged back by slow bowlers Robert Smith (4-41), Warren Clunes (2-20) and Chris Busby (2-22).

In reply, Templepatrick looked on course for victory after Robert Smith (52) and Richard Greer (40) got them off to a flying start. But despite the efforts of James Jackson (38 not out) wickets fell at regular intervals as Louis Delport (3-26) and Mikey Taiaroa (3-11) ensured there would be no upset as they dismissed the visitors for 186 in 49 overs, securing the win by 18 runs.
