Local school cricketers have had mixed fortunes in the Ulster Bank Schools’ Cup. Belfast High School have progressed to the third round, but Ballyclare High School went out by over 100 runs at the hands of Belfast Royal Academy.

Belfast High will now face holders RBAI after a six-run win over Bangor Grammar School. A. Kelson top-scored with 66 in a winning total of 144 for 8, and S. Brolly’s three wickets for just seven runs helped the school home.

Ballyclare were never in the hunt against BRA. First of all they conceded 147 runs, and then were dismissed for a mere 46. At one stage, four wickets fell in successive balls, with Academy’s Andrew Forbes hitting the stumps each time.
