Disappointment for relegated Comrades

THE season ended in disappointment for all concerned at Dixon Park when Ballyclare Comrades were relegated.

An odd-goal-in-three midweek defeat by Limavady United at The Showgrounds was the final nail in the coffin, which means the Reds will be playing in Championship 2 next season.

The post-Christmas programme proved to be the downfall for Gordon Chambers’ lads, who failed to make the most of a series of home fixtures.

Fellow strugglers Ballymoney United, Institute and Glebe Rangers all came to Dixon Park in the latter part of the season, but the Comrades garnered just a single point from these three crucial encounters, and these results proved to be critical.

Despite the disappointment, Reds’ boss Gordon Chambers (pictured) is confident that his team can bounce back next season.
