Doagh swimmer Hamilton heading for Holland
DOAGH'S James Hamilton has been named in the the Irish team for the 2010 IPC World Swimming Championships in Holland in August.
The 17-year-old is one of eight Irish swimmers who will compete at the Eindhoven event from 15th - 25th August.
Hamilton will compete in the 100m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke, 200m Freestyle in the S14/SB14 class.
The team will be led by Head of Paralympic Swimming Dave Malone. He said: "I have been working with the athletes towards the World Championships since my appointment as Head of Paralympic Swimming over a year ago. They have worked very hard over the last year and this is a group of very talented performers. Eindhoven is the perfect showcase opportunity for them to display their talent."
Commenting on the announcement, Paralympic Council of Ireland CEO, Liam Harbison, said: "The World Championships is another milestone for our swimmers on the road to London 2012. After their success last year in the European Championships, we are very hopeful they will build on this success and we wish them every success."
Back in March, the Larne Swimming Club member came away from the British Junior Disability short course championships in Sheffield with two gold medals, one silver and two bronze when he was part of the Ulster team.
