Does your club need a funding boost?

SPORTS clubs throughout East Antrim are being invited to apply for a Texaco Sportstars Bursary.

Five bursaries of 3,500 each will be presented to clubs throughout Northern Ireland this year.

Launched in 2007 as part of celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Texaco Sportstars Awards, the scheme is open to all clubs, irrespective of sporting discipline.

Previous winners include Newtownabbey-based Cliftonville Cricket Club, who secured funding through the scheme last year.

In framing their application, clubs must demonstrate why they deserve a bursary and how they would spend the award if successful. Winners will be decided by an independent panel of sports experts.

To apply, clubs must complete an official application form which are available online at www.texaco.ie/bursary and from all Texaco service stations.

The closing date for entries is Sunday, August 29. Winners will be presented with their awards at a function to be held in Dublin on Thursday, September 30.
