In a low-scoring fixture Ross Bryans’ lads emerged comprehensive winners by five wickets, after skittling the city side for 67 at The Cloughan.

John Busby spearheaded the home attack with 3-7, followed by Josh Cowan (2-14) and Michael Stewart (2-14).

In reply, Richard Greer top-scored with 37, while Vinoth Srinivasan with 3-17 was BISC’s most successful bowler.

In a Junior League fixture the 2nd XI fell heavily to Instonians II who won by a massive 157 runs in Belfast.

Weekend fixtures: 1st XI v Millpark, away; 2nd XI v Muckamore III, home.

Meanwhile, Academy II lost ground in their Section 2 promotion challenge with a defeat to Woodvale on Saturday, but recovered with a win in Bangor on Sunday.

There was a tense finish in Bangor where ACC scraped home by two runs, posting 161 for 5. Waqas Mohammad top-scored with 29 in Saturday’s defeat by Woodvale II as Academy’s total of 105 in 33 overs. Woodvale II coasted home with 106 for 3. The senior team’s match against Woodvale was postponed.
