Two teams from Fairview PS took part in the finals of the Northern Ireland Primary Schools’ Kwik Cricket competition at Stormont on Wednesday, June 19. (See this week’s Newtownabbey Times for more pictures from the event).

A total of 10 teams - five boys’ teams and five girls’ teams - from Fairview, Tildarg, Loanends and Kilbride Central primary schools took part in the annual qualifying competition held by Templepatrick Cricket Club at The Cloughan on Wednesday, June 12.

In the boys’ section, Fairview B went through to the Northern Ireland finals after winning four games out of four. The team from Tildarg PS finished runners up.

The Fairview girls’ team also secured a place in the finals at Stormont as they too were unbeaten during
qualifying.

The girls’ team from Loanends PS finished runners up in the qualifying competition in Ballyclare, which was organised and run by Templepatrick CC coaches Artie Campbell, Warren Clunes and Peter Shepherd.

At the Northern Ireland finals, both Fairview sides played well in the group stages against some strong opposition, but they narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals.
