In the past few weeks boss Stephen King has brought no fewer than nine new faces to the club as he sets his sights on making an impact in Division 1A next season. And the Times understands there could be even more new faces through the door.

The Island’s marquee signing was revealed on Tuesday when former Ballyclare Comrades skipper Ricky Higgins, 30, put pen to paper with the Wilbourne Park outfit.

King said: “This is a terrific addition to squad. I have known Ricky a long time and know what he is going to bring to the team.

“He has played for some great clubs including the Welders, Larne as well as captaining Ballyclare Comrades. He is really excited for the new challenge and it’s a massive coup for myself and Islandmagee to get such an established player on board who has played over 200 games in Championship with a return of 92 goals.”

Left-back Anthony Hill is another capture from Dixon Park, as is central midfielder Ryan Burke.

Former Glentoran and Knockbreda midfielder Matty Johnston has also signed for Island while goalkeeper Darren Devine returns for another spell at the club.

Other new arrivals include Chris Harris, Carl Murray, Ryan Murphy and Tayler Thompson from Carrick Rangers have also committed themselves to the Islanders.
