AMATEUR LEAGUE: UUJ hit for six by Newcastle

In the first of their back-to-back matches over a 24-hour period, Amateur League side UUJ lost 6-0 away to Newcastle on Wednesday evening.

The promotion-chasing County Down side had too much firepower for Billy Youle’s students who will now have to dust themselves down for tonight’s Division 1B six-pointer at home to Bloomfield.

Earlier this week player-manager Youle admitted it may be difficult to have everyone available for last night’s trip to Newcastle, but added: “I’d expect to be full strength for Thursday night, with the exception of the suspended Rhys Cleland.”

A win tonight would pull the Jordanstown outfit four points clear of second-botton Bloomfield with three games in hand. Kick-off 6:45 pm.
