Ballyclare Comrades bounced back from the disappointment of Monday’s Steel and Sons Cup semi-final defeat with a convincing 5-1 win over Institute at Dixon Park this afternoon.
Chris Trussell got the ball rolling in the Championship 1 encounter when he opened the scoring after nine minutes.
Midfielder Gerard McAlea doubled their advantage on 42 minutes before Daniel Smith made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time.
The visitors pulled one back throughb Darren McFadden but a short time later they were reduced to 10 men when Darren McCauley saw red.
The Comrades capitalised on their numerical superiority when Kyle Buckley added number four. Trussell rounded things off with his second of the afternoon, three minutes from time.
The result means Eddie Hill’s Reds remain unbeaten at home in the league, and the three points moves them up to fifth spot.
