BALLYCLARE Comrades eased into the last 16 of the Steel and Sons Cup by hitting Ballynahinch United for six on Saturday.

Two early strikes had the Hinch lads on the back foot but they managed a consolation second-half score to prevent the whitewash.

Chris Trussell rediscovered his scoring touch with a brace, and the other goals came courtesy of Conor Mulholland, an own goal, Adam McCart and Darren Doherty.

Ballyclare Comrades: Flood; Doherty, Getty, Doyle (c), Buckley; Agnew, McCart, McClean (McGowan 59), Simms (Gray 74); Mulholland (Smith 59) Trussell.

On Monday evening the Dixon Park men were drawn away to Drumaness Mills in the fourth round of the competition. The tie is scheduled to be played on Saturday, September 28.

This Saturday the Comrades host Limavady United in Championship 1 (3 pm).
