The Mayor of Newtownabbey Alderman Thomas Hogg joined players and officials from FC Whiteabbey as they celebrated their league success at their first-ever players’ dinner, held at the Ulster Transport Bowling Club in Jordanstown on Friday, June 6.

The club has been going from strength to strength since its formation in 2012 and is optimistic about being promoted to the Ballymena and Provincial League First Division.

The club lost just three games last term and is starting to attract players not just from the Newtownabbey area but further afield, showing fantastic signs for its development.

They have been working closely with Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Sport and Play development officer and are viewed as a progressive club in the area.

Dean Holmes, Sport and Play Development Officer, commented: “Special mention should be made to Robert McLauglin on the committee, and Gerard Crossan and his management team.

“Congratulations to all players, members and supporters on your successes this season. I have no doubt FC Whiteabbey will continue to enjoy success.”
