Despite having two players sent off midway through the second half, Taughmonagh got the better of Grange Rangers, winning 2-1 in the Junior Shield first round tie played at Suffolk.
The hosts were first on to the scorecard when Mark Deegan was beaten from close range after blocking the initial attempt, but leading scorer Matti King, levelled from the penalty spot following a foul on Tiago Leite.
Two home red cards tipped the scales in Rangers’ favour, but they were unable to convert possession in to goals, and the hosts rallied to score a breakaway winner.
Rangers chairman, Ivan Higgins, takes this opportunity to thank Taughmonagh for their post match hospitality, and wishes them further success in this competition.
Grange Rangers: Deegan; Johnston, McFall, Gault, Donnelly; Gregg, Cooper (C), McCoy, Murphy; Tiago, King. Subs: Bell, Thompson, Boyle.
