Grange match abandoned

Following a touchline scuffle at Foundry Lane on Saturday afternoon, the referee decided to abandon the IFA Junior Cup tie between Grange Rangers and Celtic Club (Lurgan No 1).

Rangers had been mainly on the ascendancy, with goalkeeper Joel Loughridge almost a spectator, while his opposite number had a let-off when an Andy Gilmour effort rebounded off the post.

Trouble flared in the 25th minute and following the resulting melee the referee called a halt.

Grange secretary, Wayne Lewis, said: “The referee’s report will be all important and both teams will now have to wait for the verdict of the IFA Disciplinary Committee.”

Grange Rangers: Loughridge; Murray, Cooper, Leitch, McNair; Mulholland, McFarlane (C), Thompson; McConnell, Gilmour, Davey. Subs: McAllister, Todd, White.

On Saturday Rangers travel to Ballynahinch, hoping to pick up their first Amateur League Division 2B points of the season.
