Grange may have to settle for mid-table finish

While Grange Rangers had no game at the weekend, St Luke’s and Newtownbreda took the opportunity to leap-frog over the Ballyclare lads.

Last month secretary Wayne Lewis had been hoping for a top-five finish, but his lads have now dropped to seventh, and with only two fixtures remaining they will have to settle for a mid-table Amateur League Division 2B finish.

Tullycarnet are still odds-on favourites to secure the title, with St Luke’s and Bangor YM their main rivals.

However, this is Rangers’ best season for several years, and manager Paul McAllister will be hoping that having established a solid platform there will be better times ahead next season.

On Saturday Rangers will be away to Whitehead Eagles, who along with Rooftop and Drumbo, are flirting with relegation.
