Junior International call-ups for Ballyclare players

NO FEWER than four Ballyclare Comrades players are in line for Northern Ireland Junior International caps.

Despite the team languishing in the relegation zone of Championship 1, the talents of goalkeeper Paddy Flood, midfielders Andy Forsythe and Scott Irvine and striker Mark McClelland have not gone unnoticed by team officials.

All four will be heading off to Bulgaria this week to compete in UEFA’s Regions Cup, much to the delight of manager Gordon Chambers.

“This is a wonderful personal honour for the boys, but it is also an honour for Ballyclare Comrades Football Club,” he enthused. “They have all been playing consistently well, and their recognition is richly deserved. They have been attending trials recently and have come through with flying colours to make the final squad,” he added.

Club officials are especially pleased to see Flood getting the nod, after having come through the various Dixon Park youth teams.
