Having failed to win a match for the second season in a row, and with just one measly point out of a possible 84, it’s maybe just as well Kilroot Rec have some trophies of their own as they brought the curtain down on another best-forgotten season with their annual presentation dinner at Carrick Cricket Club.

Chairman Thomas Hamilton announced the following award winners who received their trophies from managers Alan Craig (firsts) and Stuart Hamilton (seconds).

Awards

First Team:

Manager’s Player of the Year: Chris Rea.

Players’ Player of the Year: Jamie Wright.

Leading Goalscorer: Craig Leworthy.

Mervyn Smith Perpetual Trophy for Young Player of the Year: Nathan Banks

Clubman of the Year: John Thompson.

Second Team:

Manager’s Player of the Year: Joe Gibney.

Players’ Player of the Year, Stephen Bell.

There was also a special presentation to young Bradley Spence who sustained a serious leg break injury during training.
