Two Liverpool FC legends will be in Newtownabbey next month giving a unique insight into Anfield’s great managers Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley and Joe Fagan and disclosing the secrets behind the club’s rise to global fame.
Ian Callaghan, Liverpool’s 857-match appearance record holder, and Ian St John, a folk hero of the Kop, join author and broadcaster John Keith at The Theatre at the Mill on Thursday, June 6.
St John, hailed by Shankly as a key signing in his Anfield revolution, said: “The story of Liverpool’s rise to power stems from simplicity.
“Training was done with the ball; the creed was passing and maintaining possession. Complicated coaching was scorned.”
St John and Callaghan will cover a wide range of topics in conversation with John Keith, a former Belfast-based Daily Express sportswriter, and the evening will end with a question and answer session with members of the audience.
