Frustration as Supporters' Club numbers drop

OFFICIALS at Ballyclare Comrades Supporters Club are frustrated at a drastic drop in numbers ahead of its Annual General Meeting tonight (August 12).

Membership peaked at fifty-six a couple of years ago, but about three-quarters failed to renew their membership last season, leaving the future of the club is a matter of concern.

"We have contributed thousands of pounds to the Comrades over the past decade, and the money has been used mainly for team strengthening," stated treasurer Paddy Kelly.

"This money is a vital source of income, but we cannot continue to do this unless we have a viable membership, so I appeal to all fans to become members of the Supporters' Club. We now a stadium that is the envy of most other clubs in the Championship, but we need the fans to fill those seats in the new grandstand.

"The Supporters' Club organises a bus to most away matches; the bus returns home immediately after the final whistle, and on the way back there is plenty of chat and banter as the results acome in, so instead of travelling in individual cars why not sample a trip by bus?

"This season's first meeting of the Supporters' Club, which is also the AGM, will be held on today (Thursday 12th) at 7.30pm in the Social Club, when old and new members will be assured of a warm welcome," stated Paddy.
