High School boys set for Methody test

BALLYCLARE High School are "raring to go" ahead of Saturday's Schools' Cup quarter-final clash away to holders Methodist College.

The school's Director of Rugby, Daniel Soper, knows it will be a difficult task for his first fifteen to overcome the might of Methody at Pirrie Park but he says his side will not be overawed by the occasion.

"Methody have a great deal of history behind them but we're trying to focus on our own game and play as well as we can and who knows what might happen. We certainly don't want to go there and be overawed," he told the Times.

"In terms of our squad we go into the game as strong as we can be. Everyone is fit and raring to go and its good that the squad is settled."

Soper knows that key players will have to be on top of their game if they are to get anything from the match.

"David Clarke has taken over the captaincy and has been something of a revelation at number 8. Another key player for us is Trevor McClintock who has been a big lineout figure in many matches.

"Hopefully, we will be bringing a big support to the game and I'm sure a lot of people connected to the school will be there to cheer us on," added the head coach.
