ATHLETICS: East Antrim Harriers round-up

As the races come thick and fast with the season is in full swing, the Harriers were once again well represented with some notable performances in the past number of weeks.

On June 19, Billy Reed claimed a superb ninth place in a time of 2:10:53 at the Flagstaff to Carlingford Mountain Race in County Louth.

On Friday, June 24 four athletes took part in the popular Ards Half Marathon. On an undulating course Ross Mercer was first home with a fast time of 1:20:27 (19th and personal best), followed by Michael Allen 1:27:10 (46th), James Kitchen 1:27:58 (48th) and Marty McMillan 2:00:25 (402nd).

Next up, Gary Davison represented the club at the NI Masters meeting at the Mary Peters track on Saturday, June 25.

In perfect running conditions, Gary claimed second place in the 800m Vet 50+ category in a fast time of 2:28. The club also held its annual awards dinner on June 25 and the committee would like to thank all members for their contribution and hard work over the past year.
