Mossley Bowling Club’s Kevin Blair is celebrating a double success after the inaugural Home Nationals Deaf Bowling tournament.

Representing Northern Ireland, the 51-year-old won the Men’s Singles title and, alongside club-mate Heather Kelly, also lifted the men and women’s overall title.

Wales, Scotland an England competed at the event, held at Pickie Bowling Club, Bangor.

Signing to his son, Kevin told the Times: “It felt great to win because it was the first-ever Home Nationals. In the build-up to the event I had been practicing for two months, training every two weeks.”

The Carnmoney man took up bowls 12 years ago and hasn’t looked back since. He regularly competes for Mossley and has been to two deaf bowling World Cups in Wales (2007) and Australia (2011), picking up three silvers and two bronze medals.
