If you are hoping to compete in this year’s Newtownabbey Stena Line Triathlon, you better get your skates on! Entries close on Friday (September 12).
The annual race, which is set to take place on Sunday, September 21, provides a challenge of endurance as competitors take part in cycling, swimming and running. The competition sees athletes push themselves to their limit in a 750m swim, a 20km bike ride, followed by a 5km run around Valley Park.
Part of the Ulster Sprint Calendar, the race is run in association with Triathlon Ireland and Newtownabbey Borough Council.
“The triathlon will put competitors to the test physically and is sure to be both a challenging and rewarding sporting experience,” said Newtownabbey Mayor, Thomas Hogg.
“We hope to see a good turnout of supporters on the day to provide encouragement for those competing.”
The event is open to recreational, elite and club competitors. There are three age categories: Junior (aged 16-19); Senior (aged 20-39) and Vets (aged 40 and over).
