Carrick and District Pool League: Defending champions Galacticos travelled to Hugh McMurtry’s Cowboys for a rehearsal of their forthcoming Knockout Cup final. Galacticos’ manager, Derek Whiteside, will be happy with his team’s performance after a 12-2 win which saw hat-tricks for Paul Harris, Trevor Whiteside, Chris Carson.

League leaders the Swift trailed 4-0 to Whitehead Spartans but Paul Roberts’ men then ran out the next five frames to take the lead. With both teams matching each other frame for frame, Spartans manager Robert Hawkins took the last to secure a share of the spoils.

Doagh Weapons were edged out at home by Scorpions on an 8-6 scoreline. The first half was a tight affair with the visitors taking a slim 4-3 lead at the break. In the second session Tyler McConnell’s lads took the first to level but the Scorpions lads won the next four to secure the points.

Having taken a 5-2 lead in the first session, Rathcoole team Eastway finished the job to emerge as 8-6 winners over Teddy Bears.

Monkstown’s Hitmen and Her played host to Warriors and made the most of home advantage, taking the sessions 5-2 and 4-3. Paul Henderson recorded yet another hat-trick, while Andy McMeekin also won three frames. Sara Greenberg completed the evening with a well-taken brace.

Despite a Davy McCandless hat-trick, Whitehead Trojans got the better of Greenisland Colts with an 8-6 win. They took both sessions 4-3. Meanwhile, Greenisland Working Men’s Club played host to Alpha and got off to a great start, winning the first session 4-3. The 5-2 scoreline in the second perhaps flattered them as Alpha made them fight for every frame.

Eastway 8-6 Teddy Bears; Doagh Weapons 6-8 Scorpions; Greenisland Colts 6-8 Whitehead Trojans
