A five-day, fun-focused Hockey Week is set to take place from August 18 to 22 at Foundry Lane, Ballyclare for boys and girls aged 8 to 15 years old.

The summer scheme provides a great way for those new to the game to get involved, as well as giving those who already play a chance to develop their skills. The programme runs from 10am to 12noon each day and costs £20 per child.

Encouraging participation in the hockey summer scheme, Mayor of Newtownabbey, Alderman Thomas Hogg, said: “Hockey’s a great sport that encourages teamwork, and of course being outdoors in the fresh air is a great way to spend a couple of hours each day whether you’re new to hockey or want to develop your existing playing skills.”

Dean Holmes, Sports and Play Development Officer, added: “This is a fantastic programme and we are delighted to be able to run it in partnership with Ulster Hockey. “
