Irene celebrates 100 parkruns

County Antrim Harriers runner Irene Downey had something to celebrate last weekend as she joined fellow club members Heather White and Carol Annesley in completing 100 parkruns.

Irene was supported by a 20-strong contingent from her club at the Waterworks parkrun in north Belfast and romped around the two laps of the 5k time-trial in a respectable 25:54.

Other club results: Lyn Hardie (25:57), Louise Smart (25:57), Heather White (25:58), Gary Montgomery (25:58), Lisa Barrett (25:59), Glenn Smart (25:59), Paul Herriot (22:59), Naomi Lusty (24:22), Raymond Hilman (26:04), Jane Kinnear (26:24), Carol Annesley (26:37), Lisa Montgomery (26:58), Ricky Mason (27:57), Marion Morrow (28:20), Grace Startin (28:22), Jennifer Hardie (29:04) and Ally Bennett (31:49).

At the Antrim parkrun Helen Baird, Hannah Morrison and her mum, Ruth, clocked 26:48, 37:57 and 38:06 respectively.

Diane McCartney finished in 27:52 at the Ecos parkrun.

On the competitive scene, Naomi Lusty finished in a well-deserved 48:54 at the Jimmy’s 10k race in Downpatrick, with Carol Annesley clocking a pleasing 52:55.
