Rathcoole runner Jacqueline Briers, a member of the County Antrim Harriers, made her marathon debut at the Virgin London Marathon at the weekend.
She enjoyed an excellent race, passing the halfway stage at Tower Bridge in a very respectable 2:18:13. And, after a gruelling 26.2 miles in the warm and humid conditions, she reached the finish line on The Mall in 4:43:10.
Jacqueline has been a member of County Antrim Harriers for just six months and this excellent result is just reward for all her endeavours in training.
Closer to home, Bob Carson lead a six-strong contingent of CAH runners home in the Titanic 10k with a personal best time of 45:19, with Jayne McKeever and Julie Young not far behind and finishing jointly in 48:14. They were followed by Irene Downey (50:38), Christine Neeson (54:29pb) and Marion Morrow (57:12pb).
On the park run scene Ballynure’s Randall Smyth notched a fourth successive personal best at the Waterworks Park Run with 23:57, with Ruth Morrison clocking 23:37 at Lisburn.
Alan Briers, who was in London supporting his wife Jacqueline at the marathon, found the time to clock 23:23pb at Becton.
