BALLYCLARE Ladies 2nd XI dropped home Junior League Section 2 points when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Randalstown III at Foundry Lane.

The visitors were early on to the scorecard, but with Janice Wilson pulling the strings in centre midfield, the hosts were well in the game, forcing the goalkeeper to make smart saves from Jacquie Hanley and Joanne Cooke.

Zoe Hunter’s girls drew level when Hanley brought the ball in to the circle where Hunter’s shot was saved, only for Jade Purdy to stab the rebound in to the net.

The second session was fairly evenly contested with Sara Coulter and her opposite number both making fine saves; Coulter did well to block from a penalty corner, while the ‘Town keeper denied Cooke.

The draw keeps the ‘Clare girls in touch with the top teams, Ards II and Belfast Harlequins III.

Ballyclare Ladies II panel: Sara Coulter, Zoe Hunter (C), Janice Wilson, Joanne Cooke, Jade Purdy, Julie West, Emma Johnston, Jacquie Hanley, Kerrie Glenn, Gillian White, Lauren McCracken, Jamie Stewart.

The 3rd XI lost 4-0 to Queen’s III in a Junior League Section 7 fixture at The Dub.

This weekend’s fixtures: 1st XI v Cookstown, home; 2nd XI v Ballymoney II, away; 3rd XI v Grosvenor IV, away.
