Ophir players pick up awards

MORE than 120 members and guests attended Ophir RFC's annual dinner and awards night at Corr's Corner Hotel last Saturday.

Among the invited guests at the event were Ulster Branch representative Gary Leslie and President of the Referees' Society Paul Eakin.

Club President Cedric Bonar presented the awards for the 2008/09 season, including the First XV Player of the Year trophy to Neil Gray and the Second XV award to Glyn Rees. Gerard Crawford was named Under 18 Player of the Year.

During the event a raffle was held in aid of the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice, raising several hundred pounds for the charity's vital work with life-limited children and young people at Horizon House, Glengormley.
