Ophir Seconds lose to Randalstown
OPHIR Second XV lost a closely contested Minor League game against Randalstown at The Valley Leisure Centre on Saturday afternoon.
The Mallusk side, who were missing a number of key players including their captain Robert Press, defended well for long periods but lacked invention in attack.
Despite taking an 8-0 lead with a try from second row Simon Bartholemew and a Willy Cully penalty, Ophir never looked in control and some scrappy play eventually saw them concede two second half tries as the visitors took the points with a 10-8 win.
The Second XV have no game this Saturday, but will be back in action on October 6 when they are scheduled to travel to mid-Ulster to take on Cookstown in the league.
Ophir First XV, who were idle at the weekend, will take on Strabane in a Qualifying League game at the Cottonmount on Saturday.
