Crawley hat-trick inspires win

Andy Arbuthnot’s Rockers stay top of the Carrick and District Pool League after a hard-fought win away to improving Teddy Bears. G. Crawley bagged a fine hat-trick for the visitors to help them to a 9-5 success.

Castle remain second on frame difference after their 9-5 win away from home at Jonny Thompson’s Scorpions.

Whitehead Spartans took the first five frames in a row at Hit Men and Her. It proved too much of a hurdle for the hosts and Kenny English’s team ran out 10-4 winners on the night. D. Lowe, S. McWhirter and R. Hawkins all scored two out of two.

The Warriors have moved six points clear of the botton three courtesy of a 9-5 win at newcomers Jolly Beggar.

Whitehead Trojans recorded an 11-3 home success against bottom team Alpha with two from two for G. Jones, N. McFaul, G. McCormick and C. Hobson but the highest scorers on the night were Hugh McMurtry’s Cowboys who ran up 12 frames at Eastway, losing only two in return. P. McCafferey and D. Kincaid both scored the maximum three from three.

The Brown Cow Inn team are slowly but surely returning to the form that seen them challenging for the title last season.

Rab Brown’s MSC Trojans moved up to fifth spot after winning a crunch match over Michael Lowry’s Barbarians. Johnny Mackay kept up his fine form with yet another hat-trick. Eslewhere, Greenisland had a bye this week.
