The Danske Bank Schools’ Cup reaches the quarter-finals stages today (Saturday, February 23) with Ballyclare High set to entertain Sullivan Upper at Hollinger Park.

The High School’s First XV blasted their way past Down High in the fourth round with a 33-5 win, thanks in no small part to a hat-trick of tries from skipper Jonny Darling. David Allen and Jordan McKinstry also landed scores in the comprehensive victory.

Dan Soper’s lads - last year’s beaten finalists - now have another Schools’ Cup semi-final in their sights.

Sullivan, however, will be no pushover. They defeated 1997 winners BRA 20-10 at Roughfort set up this weekend’s encounter.

Ballyclare High have just one Schools’ Cup title to their name, lifting the famous old trophy in 1973. They came mightily close again in 2012, but lost out to Methodist College in the final.

The draw for the quarter-finals is as follows: Bangor Grammar v RS Armagh, Ballyclare High v Sullivan Upper, RBAI v Limavady, Methodist College v Wallace High.
