The 2012 Newtownabbey Sports Awards and Sporting Hall of Fame were launched this week. Now in their 12th year, the awards promise to be the biggest and best yet.

The categories at the annual event include: Services to Sport; Club of the Year; Sports Coach of the Year; Adult Sportsperson of the Year; Junior Sportsperson of the Year; Junior Team of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year with a disability.

Dean Holmes, Sport and Play Development Officer, said: “The Sports Awards are a fantastic opportunity for all sporting talent in Newtownabbey to be showcased and ... have their hard work and efforts rewarded.”

The closing date for applications is Thursday, January 31 2013 so if you think that you, your club or anyone you know has achieved excellence in sport in 2012, complete the application form as soon as possible!
