Templepatrick cruise to win
JOSH Dailly's haul of five wickets set up a comprehensive win for Templepatrick last Saturday afternoon.
The Belfast International Sports Club batsmen had no answer to the pace of Dailly and James Jackson who ripped through the innings unchanged.
Jackson chipped in with three wickets as the city lads were bundled out for only 51 in the sixteenth over at the City of Belfast Playing Fields at Mallusk, where the home side turned up with only ten players.
In reply it took Artie Campbell's side only ten overs to knock off the required runs to register a win by ten wickets, after finishing on 54 for 0.
Richard Greer, included three boundaries in his unbeaten 27, while his opening partner Colin Morrow also carried his bat with a brisk 24, that included two massive sixes.
Commenting skipper Artie Campbell said, "When I won the toss I opted to bowl, and this was completely vindicated when Josh and James proved to be almost unplayable, to the extent that the spinners did not get a look-in.
"Josh Dailly led the way with five for 18 off 8.3 overs, while James Jackson had three for 31 off his seven. It was disappointing that BISC turned up a man short for this Ulster Bank Section 2 fixture, and Mark Thompson was responsible for the ninth wicket, when he fielded the ball smartly and scored a direct hit on the stumps.
"After having waited so long to get our season under way I am pleased to have recorded two wins from our first three outings."
The eagerly awaited rearranged local derby against Academy scheduled for Sunday afternoon was postponed for the second time, owing to the outfield at The Cloughan being waterlogged following early morning rainfall.
This weekend Templepatrick will be away to Donacloney to fulfil another league fixture.
The 2nd XI had no game, but the 3rd XI travelled to Carrick where they were beaten by seven wickets in a league fixture. Templepatrick's problems emanated from a poor batting display that produced only 75 runs, with David Knipe and Paddy Lutton sharing the top scoring honours with 12 each.
The home side reached the target with several overs to spare for the loss of three wickets taken by Stephen Boyd (2) and Ross Bryans.
This weekend the 2nd XI entertain Donacloney II on Saturday, and the Thirds travel to Waringstown III on Sunday.
