'We gave Glentoran a run for their money'

BALLYCLARE Comrades fans were left bitterly disappointed as they streamed out of Dixon Park on Saturday afternoon after an injury time penalty deprived the Reds of a lucrative replay against Glentoran in the sixth round of the JJB Irish Cup.

However, Ballyclare manager Gordon Chambers was more philosophical in his assessment. "Certainly I was disappointed with the penalty decision, but I am also disappointed with the attention given to it by the media, at the expense of our magnificent performance against the reigning Premier League champions.

"The fact that we played for about half an hour with one player less than Glentoran, and still matched them tackle for tackle has been largely overlooked. Alan McDonald had to employ all four of his top strikers against us to get a result, and that is some compliment for our defence.
