CALIFORNIA DREAMIN' COMES TRUE FOR LUCKY ALLISON
WHITEABBEY woman Allison Noble has good reason to celebrate after scooping the star prize in a radio competition.
Allison, from Whiteabbey, was chosen from thousands of entries in the Citybeat 'Dream Ticket' competition and she jetted off for the holiday of a lifetime in San Francisco on Saturday.
Along with her friend Sharon Saunders, also from Newtownabbey, Allison is currently experiencing all the sights and sounds of one of the world's most famous and beautiful cities including the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and Chinatown.
The pair are being accompanied by Citybeat stars Mark Lima and Vicky Pitchers who have been presenting 'Belfast's Bigger Breakfast' live all this week from top Irish nightspot in the US, 'Jack's Bar', right in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf.
Speaking just before her departure on the trip, Allison said: "I still can't believe we're going. I've never actually been abroad before so it's truly amazing that my first trip should be to somewhere like San Francisco!"
Mark and Vicky were equally excited. Mark said: "It's a dream come true to broadcast our show live all the way from California and, of course, we'll be looking forward to having some real craic with Allison and Sharon!
And Vicky added: "It should be a great party all week! As well as featuring the locals when we get there, we've been asking our listeners to get any relatives or friends they have in San Francisco to call into 'Jack's Bar' while we're on air so they can say hello to everyone back home."
Listeners in Newtownabbey can enjoy all the fun and find out what Allison and Sharon get up on their trip of a lifetime by tuning into Citybeat on102.5fm or DAB, or by visiting www.citybeat.co.uk.
The trip to San Francisco is the latest American destination in a series of top competition prizes given away by Citybeat in association with Continental Airlines. Previous lucky winners have enjoyed trips to New York, Las Vegas, Orlando and Memphis and even more superb holidays are promised for 2008.
