GLENGORMLEY man Stephen Kelly and his son Luke had a very busy weekend raising vital funds for impoverished communities in East Africa through the charity Trocaire.
Seven-year-old Luke was first up with a four-mile sponsored cycle ride around Glengormley and Mallusk on Saturday (September 3), and then Stephen did his bit by completing the Stenaline Triathlon at The Valley Leisure Centre the following day.
After watching the harrowing scenes from East Africa on television, the Hollybrook Crescent pair decided that they wanted to try and raise some money from friends and family that would go towards the charity.
Luke, a pupil at St Bernard’s Primary School, was keen to help his dad with his fundraising efforts after seeing how millions of people in East Africa are being affected by the drought.
Anyone who would like to help Stephen and Luke with their fundraising push can still do so by logging on to www.trocaire.org and searching for Stephen Kelly, or they can contact Stephen directly via email at email@example.com
