The congregation of Glengormley Methodist celebrated the 50th anniversary of the church in November 1985.

There were a number of special events taking place to mark the occasion.

These included a family superstars competition and an anniversary tea which was attended by eight former ministers.

There was also a two hour pageant based on the life of the church which was enacted by members of the various groups associated with the church.

The President of the Methodist Church in Ireland also took part by leading two services at the venue.

There were only 10 families attached to the church when it opened. There were over 600 families linked to the church in 1985.
