NEWTOWNABBEY volunteers are being called to help bring the London 2012 celebrations to a momentous close.
To mark the end of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London a fabulous celebrations of sport and culture will take place right across the nation.
Band, choirs and performers will take to the Jordanstown, Loughshore Park for the Bandstand Marathon on Sunday 9th September.
Between 1pm and 5pm some of the best local talent will be on display as part of the Cultural Olympiad and volunteers are being sought to take part.
Ruth Mackenzie, director of the London 2012 Festival, said: “Bandstand Marathon is encouraging local music groups to showcase their talents and be part of the London 2012 Festival.
“I am proud that we are delivering our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to boost participation in creating a cultural legacy post-London 2012.”
