A BALLYCLARE hairdresser has helped one of Belfast’s leading salons secure a place in the prestigious 2012 L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final.
Judith McKay, who works as a Creative Stylist and Educator for L’Oreal at Andrew Mulvenna Hair in Belfast, was part of the salon’s team who took their knowledge of catwalk trends and true hairdressing expertise out of the salon and onto the live competition floor at The Culloden Hotel recently, securing a place in next month’s grand final in London by demonstrating that they are among the best in UK.
Judith, alongside Lizzy Priestly and Rudo Chikosi, created a stunning model look in just 45 minutes. Their finished look incorporated a flawless merge of an immaculate hair colour and cut, with healthy and fresh make-up. Their show-stopping look ensured that Andrew Mulvenna Hair stood out on the catwalk from over 65 salons and propelled them to the next stage.
Judith, who earlier this year got the opportunity to style pop star Nicole Scherzinger’s hair before she took to the stage for a concert at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall, was delighted with the team’s success.
“The inspiration behind the look was really a play on 1980’s silhouettes - both in hair and clothes styling. Clean sharp edges mixed with softer romantic textures. The cut is sharp and edgy but when teamed up with the softer waves it produces a very sexy and wearable look that is really fresh and glamorous. With the hair colour we just wanted something simple yet effective; so globally the hair was coloured using INOA light cool chestnut brown, then to bring focus to the front of the hair style we used a rich light copper that was gently blended into the global chestnut,” Judith explained.
The L’Oréal Colour Trophy final is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 28 at the Grosvenor House Ballroom, Park Lane, London.
