There was recognition for two people from the borough in January 1986.
Billy Thompson from Ballyclare received an MBE in the New Years Honours list.
Mr Thompson was the conductor of the Ballyclare Male Choir. He had led the choir to many competition wins and concert successes over the years.
He received his MBE for services to music in the Province.
There was also success for 14-year-old Hazel Biggar from Glengormley. The teenager had been born with brittle bone disease, and was a pupil at Fleming Fulton School.
She won the Endeavour Award at the Rehabilitation Centre at Belfast’s Musgrave Park Hospital.
The award was for the dedication she showed.
